It has been an amazing and tumultuous month, and given my own warnings at the beginning of the year, I’m aghast at how quickly this pandemic has spread across the globe, but not surprised given the astrology this year. I wish I could say I knew it would be a pandemic all along, but I didn’t. I just knew whatever came along would be life altering. That it would change everything about the way we live our lives. And, that these changes would be permanent in nature. I’m not sure anyone wants to hear this, but many of these changes will have long lasting and a permanent effect on the way we live.
Given the pandemic, each of the following transits seems pretty shallow given the present circumstances. I’ll try to relate it all to the pandemic, but still leave some bright spots in the transits coming up.
4/4 Venus enters Gemini:
This transit usually gives us a period of capriciousness and frivolity. Given the current world pandemic, this might prompt people to venture out of their self-imposed isolation and seek the company of friends and loved ones. Try to resist that impulse. Keeping our distance from each other has proven to be an effective way to flatten the curve. It won’t stop the disease from killing people if they get it, but it will slow the contagion growth.
Venus in Gemini is full of fun and whimsy. This is just a time of whimsy, thoughtlessness and perhaps unfaithfulness. It’s not a time to be overly serious or critical of loved ones. They want to play and sometimes during this time they want to play with someone new. Ordinarily I would suggest that people just roll with the tide, and that things will smooth out soon enough, but not this year, and not with this transit. Given the current danger of whimsy and carelessness I urge everyone to try and resist the desire to ‘play’ with friends.
Additionally, Venus will go retrograde on May 13th and will still be in Gemini. I fear that this retrograde will bring us a resurgence of the virus due to people not taking it seriously enough. As Venus travels through Gemini, people will begin to see things getting better, and they will break isolation and quarantine. Ponce Venus goes retrograde, the virus could catch a second breath due to people being careless and needing to be social. This is a particularly social transit and it will be difficult to resist the impulse to ‘meet and greet’ loved ones and friends. DO NOT DO IT. The retrograde in May will tell the tale regarding how well people did what we’re all urged to do in order to prevent the worst case scenario.
4/5 Jupiter will be exactly conjunct Pluto at 24° Capricorn.
Retrogrades gives us a 2nd conjunction at the same degree on June 29th 2020. The final conjunction occurs at 22° Capricorn on November 12th 2020. Again, using a 3-degree orb Jupiter conjunct Pluto will be influencing us from 3/10/20-8/2/20.
The last time Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto were this close in tropical Capricorn was 1894 BC.
So, I always like to go back to history to see what occurred the last time a specific aspect might have been in play. I found this interesting factoid regarding 1894 BC:
The Babylonian Empire was founded in 1894 BC by the Amorite Babylonian Dynasty. The Amorite king named Hammurabi first created the short lived Babylonian Empire in 18th century BC. It was from this time that South Mesopotamia came to be known as Babylonia, and the city of Babylon itself grew in size and grandeur. The empire quickly dissolved upon his death and Babylon spent long periods under Assyrian, Kassite and Elamite domination.
While Jupiter is definitely one of the benefic planets, conjunct Pluto it does not turn Pluto into a benign player. No, Jupiter expands Pluto’s influence. It does not soften it. Please do not think that this will ignite a less intense period of time. It is my judgment that given the Saturn/Pluto aspects at the beginning of the year, Jupiter/Pluto aspects will be more of the same, not a reversal.
Look for the numbers of infections, hospitalizations, and deaths worldwide to make exponential increases during these dates as Jupiter expands the numbers of people affected.
3/29/20-4/6/20 Jupiter Conjunct Pluto @ 24 degrees
Jupiter Conjunct Pluto really cannot be looked at without also looking at the Saturn influence. Because of this, the year itself takes on some special significance. Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn transiting through Capricorn will bring lessons of maturity and responsibility cultivated through acceptance of natural cycles of change. Again, given the world situation, Jupiter conjunct Pluto should bring two things to the forefront. Leaders who can make decisive and correct decisions will come to the forefront, and leaders in power who cannot do the job needed will also be increasingly obvious to people all around the world. This aspects should make both obvious. A sort of weeding the herd kind of thing.
The combination of Jupiter and Pluto can incite extreme ambition for personal power, yet their transit through Capricorn along with Saturn means that we will need to adjust aspirations to contend with the limitations we face concerning material resources and available time and space. The difficulties or crises we endure will bring revisions in what needs to be nurtured and developed—and what needs to be shed and let go.
Because Jupiter expands anything it touches, power and the abuse of power will also be expanded. Depending on how you handle power itself, will dictate the results of your efforts. This is a karmic year of sorts, and doing the right thing matters. If you are kind and ethical, Jupiter will bring kindness and moral results. If you act in a ruthless, extreme, self-righteous or obsessive way you are likely to face powerful forces acting against you. This could include trouble from superiors, government authorities, or the law.
This could be a time of large-scale achievement and success that makes you happy and content well into the future—if you conduct yourself ethically and morally. You face various forms of destruction if you act immorally and unethically. This is not the year to tempt fate. Remember that.
4/12 Mercury enters Aries
Mercury enters Aries and brings a time of increased mental activity. Everyone should be bursting with ideas and energetically seeking answers to all sorts of questions. Try to not ACT on an idea until you have thought it out thoroughly. Aires can be impulsive in its expression, and this is not a time for impulsive actions. It is a time to use Mercury in Aries for the ideas it offers, but it’s important to take the time necessary before implementing ideas.
Rash action at this time can bring about radical consequences, and again given the current pandemic situation, this is not the time to make reckless decisions. This is a time for ideas to be born, not acted upon. This is a time for uncensored, free flowing ideas to come pouring out of the individual consciousness, but it is not the best time to put these ideas into action. This energy is to facilitate the flow of ideas, the enthusiasm of future projects, the planning for these projects should wait for the transit into Taurus.
4/20 Sun enters Taurus
The Sun in Taurus combines the practicality of earth with the concentrated nature of a fixed sign. Taurus people are lovers of beauty and are themselves often quite charming.
They are very affectionate, but their strong need for security sometimes lets their affectionate nature become possessive. Taurus people are strongly rooted in their opinions. They can be stubborn and don’t like to be contradicted.
However, Taurus people can change. Just don’t expect that to happen more than once in a lifetime! Taurus individuals are particularly patient, and often reliable and practical if their laziness and inertia don’t get the better of them. They have incredible endurance, and they often have an excellent business sense. They crave luxury, art, and good food.
Taurus says, “I HAVE” as part of the identity. The planet Venus rules Taurus. Its stone is the Emerald. Its identity is “THE BUILDER” The major fear plaguing most Taurus individuals is the ‘Fear of loss of possessions’. The reason for this is that their identity is wrapped up in their possessions, so to lose them would be to lose themselves.
4/26 Pluto goes Retrograde until 10/5/20:
Under any Pluto transit, we feel pressured to eliminate and release the old, outworn, outdated and obsolete in our lives. When Pluto is transiting retrograde, it is actually more Plutonian than when it is traveling direct. Increased intensity and power add to the feelings and drives that compel us to make changes in our lives. Important changes, that will lessen our load by eliminating old outworn patterns, and methods that are no longer useful.
It is a good time to search our own Souls in order to determine exactly what we do or do not need any longer, and given the quarantine that kind of self-examination is something we can all find the time, space, and energy to do. Because Pluto retrograde imparts an intense power, and drives us to make changes, we should use this time to listen to our own inner voices and drives. We can do it by self-reflection and examination, or we can do it kicking and screaming when changes come and we’re not prepared.
Pluto retrograde marks a time when we should seek to gain greater control over our personal lives and make the changes necessary to do that.
That’s it for April. I pray that all of you are safe and healthy. This too shall pass, even if it isn’t going to pass quickly. I like to think this is part of life. Natural disasters happen all over the world, and they upend our lives continually. Adapt or die might seem like a harsh statement, but it is true even now. We must adapt to the changes all around us or we will be left behind. Use the energy this month to think of ways to improve your lives [once we get outside again] and move forward into our new futures.
This will not break us. It will only make us stronger.
