This month is a bit of a lull astrologically, while the personal planets and the luminaries all make transits, they are all minor transits in the scheme to things. They makes these transits every year around this time of year. What do I mean by that?
Well, most of you are familiar with Sun sign transits. Every time any of you identify as an Aquarius, or a Capricorn, or a Leo, you are just describing the Sun in that sign at the moment of your birth. We know then these transits occur, but along with those Sun transits, Mercury and Venus are usually making a transit every month.
As a general rule Mercury is in the Sun sign, the sign in front or behind that Sun sign. Venus can be in the Sun sign, but is never more than two signs in back or front of the Sun sign. So, there are generally always going to be at least 3 planets making a transit-The Sun, Mercury, and Venus. This month we get the Sun plus all the personal planets, but they are minor transits.
Being a minor transit doesn’t mean it won’t affect people, but as I’ve stated, these planets move monthly and whether or not we’re aware of it, we generally acclimate rather easily.
Of course there are exceptions. If I’ve taught you nothing, I’ve taught you all that there are always exceptions. Don’t hate me, I’m just the messenger.
One very interesting note, this month there are no planets retrograde. Of course the Sun and the Moon never go retrograde, and even though the Moon’s Nodes do go retrograde, they are not planets. They are mathematical points and while important, are not planets. So, enjoy a month of no retrogrades at all. After last year, this will be a nice respite.
February 2019
2/4/19 Venus enters Capricorn: This transit isn’t all that exciting. I mean that literally. Capricorn is a much cooler placement for Venus, and is more practical in nature and much less romantic. This Valentine’s Day might not meet expectation unless a lot of effort is out into the celebration. Don’t be surprised if you get a new set of pots and pans instead of that romantic night together. Passions run cooler during this transit, and taking care of business is the order of the day.
2/11/19 Mercury enters Pisces [Fall]: This placement is not the best sign for the planet Mercury. As I’ve said before, planets can be placed in signs that allow great expression, good expression, and limited expression. Mercury in Pisces is one of those “Limited Expression” signs called “Fall”. This means that the planet of expression and communication is thwarted somewhat, and dialog turns inward for the most part instead of towards people.
In Pisces, Mercury produces a mind that is receptive and ruled by feelings. The thinking is colored by psychic tendencies, and this is a time to listen to one’s own instincts rather than any pure logic or reason. It’s a time to go ‘with your gut’. In a way, during this transit the whole world is psychic to some degree or another, and, more importantly, aware of it. These instincts should be validated for those that doubt their own sense of “knowing”.
During this transit, people are frequently too sensitive, and too easily hurt, becoming moody and sometimes depressed [especially those with Sun or Moon in Pisces].
2/15/19 Mars enters Taurus [Detriment]: As I was stating above, some planet placements are not as effective to expression. By expression, I mean the natural expression or nature of a particular planet. Mars is the planet of actions. Remembering, Venus is what we want, and Mars is how we go about getting it, Mars in Taurus is what’s called in detriment. Meaning it is not going to be able to act as fast or as effectively. Taurus is a planner and a builder. Mars doesn’t want to plan, it wants to do. Trying to push things forward can be challenging during this transit. Perhaps it is better to use the energy to plan than to execute. This doesn’t mean project will fail, but they may slow down just a little. Mars is impatient, don’t let him make you impatient as well. Count to 10 and push forward, just don’t be in as much of a hurry as you have been while Mars was in Aries at the beginning of the year. Time for a breather of sorts. Replenish your own energy this month. Trust me.
2/19/19 Sun enters Pisces: The ruler of Pisces is Neptune. Its symbol represents a pair of sea horses or sea lions yoked together. They dwell in the innermost regions of the sea, which is symbolic of life after death or regeneration. The image also represents a duality, the struggle of the spiritual soul within the physical body. In Pisces, these two natures are joined, yet very much separate. This conflict is sometimes an inhibition to natural expression.
Pisces are . . . is a difficult sentence to finish. There are so many kinds of Pisces. Strange statement? Yes, because Pisceans are the most malleable of the twelve signs. They possess a gentle, patient nature, but one that is in want of molding. They can be impressed by and completely absorbed into their environment. They are in need of a container that will shape them, guide them. Without this guiding form, this rudder, they tend to drift.
Pisces adapts to their surroundings, good or bad. They are generous, friendly, good-natured people with a true sense of kindness and compassion. They are sensitive to everything around them including the feelings of others. They are popular because of their easygoing and likable manner, which tends to mirror people they are with. They have an uncanny sense of perceiving what a person is in need of, and delivering it. They are not initiators, but rather allow circumstances and events to motivate them, and then they respond.
Pisceans are not practical people. They are too ephemeral for normal day-to-day living in the 9-5 “practical” world. They are sensitive and instinctual rather than intellectual or mechanical. They lack decisiveness and are easily diverted from their purposes. They discourage easily, and can become despondent, feel unappreciated and move on to something or someone else.
When, however, they do find the right environment or lifestyle, they are capable of some incredible things. They will become completely absorbed in a chosen path, to the exclusion of everything else. The ‘absent minded professor’ is a classic Pisces character, such as Albert Einstein. They don’t fare well in a controlled or fixed environment and generally rebel against convention.
Pisceans rarely have an ego problem, and in their personal relationships and friendships tend to be very giving. In matters of the heart, they seek a soul mate rather than a bedmate. That is not to say they will not hop from bed to bed in search of this soul mate. Pisces is a spirit on a quest for Utopia, and Utopia does not exist on this earth. Pisces is easily misled because they want to believe. No matter how often they are led astray by vacant promises, they keep the faith and go on looking for their personal ideal. They are loyal, home loving, kind and generous, but their dreamy and impractical natures can be distressing for those close.
Basically, a Pisces is driven to break down all the barriers and obstacles that life presents. If they could wave their hands and make mountains disappear, they would. This perfectly describes their dreamy POV when it comes to dealing with reality. There are exceptions, but for the most part Pisces is the sign of the dreamer who wants to believe in a better world and life for everyone. They are intuitive, psychic, and in sync with the eternal nature of life and human emotions.
That’s it for February! See you next month. Thank you all for reading, following, and introducing yourselves to me. I appreciate you all.
