I’ve decided that 2020 is such an eventful year, that I’m going to spend a lot of time describing aspects and configurations rather than just retrogrades and transits. I’ll post the transits, but those that read regularly really don’t need me to explain them again, and those that don’t read regularly can search the library for answers. Planets transit every year in a similar pattern, so there is really nothing new, but this year is loaded with important configurations and aspects, so I’m going to emphasize those rather than transits because I think it will be more helpful in the long run.
The year begins with a bang with a Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn that will be felt for a long time. I’ll explain what that all means further down, but just know this is going to be an intense year, full of inescapable changes. A definite re-distribution of power will occur.
During this coming year, it is important to try and do the right thing regardless of how painful and difficult that might be. 2020 will be a sort of cause = effect year. The first part of the year being the cause, and the second half of the year being the effect. Try and keep this in mind as you navigate the first 6 or 7 months of the year. What you sow you will reap in the August to December months.
These are the planet transits for the month of January, and there are no retrogrades of personal planets. I’m mentioning them, but not describing them as the Newsletter will focus mainly on aspects for this Newsletter and year.
1/4 Mars enters Sagittarius
1/14 Venus enters Pisces
1/17 Mercury enters Aquarius
1/21 Sun enters Aquarius
12/26/19 Solar Eclipse in Capricorn at 04°06′ Capricorn is conjunct Jupiter, so this is going to be a positive solar eclipse because Jupiter is associated with growth, expansion, prosperity, and good fortune. ,
These aspects are strong too because the orbs are only just over one degree. The addition of a Mars-Jupiter natured fixed star portending success and ambition leaves no doubt the solar eclipse is extremely fortunate.
A solar eclipse conjunct Jupiter brings happiness, optimism, generosity and good luck, with opportunities for personal, professional and spiritual growth. It gives an enthusiastic urge to do all you can, to spread your wings and experience life to the fullest. The keyword “expansion” applies to all areas of life, from relationships to wealth.
This is an excellent solar eclipse to begin new studies or long-distance travel. Also relationships, investments, business and legal matters started under this influence have a great chance of success. A solar eclipse with Jupiter also promotes spiritual growth and self-understanding.
Eclipses occur when the Moon reaches the upper and lower boundaries of its elliptical orbit, between three to seven times each year. As it touches these thresholds, known as the lunar nodes, the Moon aligns perfectly with the Sun and Earth to form a lunar or solar eclipse.
Lunar eclipses occur during Full Moons and are associated with release, whereas solar eclipses are triggered by New Moons and generate opportunity. In astrology, the lunar nodes (the North and South Nodes) are referred to as the Nodes of Fate. The South Node symbolizes past life, while the North Node exposes your destiny. Think of them as your karmic “before and after.” These nodes are always in opposite signs. (P.S. It’s super easy to spot these nodes in your birth chart—they look like little horseshoes.)
Pluto Aspects in 2020: There are entire books written about Pluto and what it means in a chart of any kind. Basically, it is all about transformation. The death of something and the renewal in transformed form. Picture the Phoenix rising from the askes. This kind of creative destruction is prompted [usually] by some kind of increased abuse of power individually or collectively in a geo-political sense. Pluto steps in and ends the abuses by any means necessary, and transforms these abuses into a new form of good.
Pluto is Always a Change in the Balance of Power.
ALWAYS.
This year is a year of dominance by the planet Pluto and its younger brother Mars. If you notice, there are countless references to either planet separately or together. These should not be ignored. This is not a kinda sorta maybe year.
Saturn conjunct Pluto: This conjunction signifies a time of serious weakening and destruction, when irreparable damage to the current establishment and status quo will be affected, giving birth to a major shift in power. When we can expect some major crisis which will intensify the demise of the current systems and bring society-changing upheaval and a death of the old ways, something ground-changing, perhaps the fall of governments, mass protests, strikes, economic collapse or a war of some kind, which means things can never be the same again.
This surge towards change will primarily be led by those born at a time of previous Saturn Pluto conjunctions i.e. 1982-1983 and 1946-1948. These individuals were destined to be political activists, and to do something serious about the corruption in governments in order to overturn outdated systems and rules, and to bring in new ones.
1/7/20-1/14/20 @ 22 degrees Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn [exact]
1/20/20-1/22/20 @ 23 degrees Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn [exact]
Using a 3-degree orb for contact between Saturn and Pluto, Saturn will be influencing you for a good part of the year. While it is exact on the dates above, influence will be felt from:
12/2/19-2/18/20
9/1/20-10/28/20
Saturn conjunct Pluto represents a complete re-distribution of power. Spiritually it represents a rite of passage for each individual. This re-distribution is representative of a change in how we all turn personal resources into productive and societal good. We’ve veered into ‘abuses of power’ in our world, and Saturn and Pluto are demanding [and will cause] these abuses to be magnified for all to see, and insist on their destruction [creative destruction]. This aspect will cause many to become aware of power, its abuses, and will then gain the skill to manage such power not only in the world, but in our lives.
Globally, Saturn conjunct Pluto will equal are-alignment of power that will have long lasting effects on our world. These changes will take hold and will be permanent for at least a generation [or until the next Saturn conjunct Pluto in 2054. Which let’s face it, most of us won’t live to see.]
This aspect alone requires that we all try and do the right thing regardless of how difficult or painful it might be. Both Saturn and Pluto have Karmic implications, and the Mars aspects will bring karmic retribution swiftly to those that ignore these warnings. This is not the year to tempt fate. I don’t mean to be overly dramatic here, but this won’t be an easy year, and can only be modified by doing the best you can for as long as you can. Karma is real. Abuses of personal power or cultural power will not fare well during 2020.
One last word on this aspect, personally try to consolidate both wins and losses. It is not the year to go out on a limb financially, emotionally, or physically. It is not a year to take any unnecessary chances. Plans that anyone has been making, or instigating before 2020 can proceed, but only with caution. New plans must be approached cautiously. As I’ve said previously, this is a re-alignment of power. The way you have been doing things, is not the way to proceed in 2020. You must take heed, learn your lessons, and take a new approach based on the re-alignment itself.
You can branch out, increase your presence in your field, accomplish much this year, but you must heed the changes in approach and learn how your power has been modified. Doing what has brought you success in the past, may no longer be the best approach. We must all learn from the failures as much as from the successes.
Pay attention.
Do the right thing.
Forge ahead even when it is painful.
That’s it for January. Thank you for reading. I appreciate your support and readership more than you know!

I can’t quite put into words what all this means to me yet, but I had a bunch of thoughts and ideas from reading this…related to some changes I’m trying to make and really need to make this year. What you wrote and what you wrote about seems to tie into what I’ve been thinking about. That’s all really vague, I know, but I’m only seeing images right now not how to explain things. I do have weird sense of hope about some things, though, even if there’s a lot of upheaval on the way. I’m going to save this article and keep referring to it!! Thanks for doing these, Cait :-D!!

I think the words will come to you. I’m so glad the Newsletter means something in your life. I didn’t want to scare people, but you beautifully described some of the anxiety that can happen when the changes or occurring or beginning and you don’t know what’s going on. I wanted to let people know they weren’t alone.
You know I care about you, and after all these years, you know you can ask me for help if you need it. I promise to be there for you. Thank you for your beautiful words here today, and your love and support support all these years!! 🙂

Thank you Cait, for your insight to the celestial influences. The warning is of a clear and present danger to us all of permitting our putative leaders as well as ourselves to spend our lives in philandering enterprises such as over-extending our resources so exquisitely demonstrated bur current Oval Office Occupant, He could have taken out the Iranian general in many times past, but decides to do it to distract attention from his impeachment, his crowning achievement to a career of insipid trickery and cheating the many who have served him and then laughing all the way to the bank.
