The Sun in Gemini is an interesting and complex placement. Gemini is an Air sign, and is ruled by
Mercury, the planet that governs all aspects of communications. Since Air is
the element of communication and the mental realms, Gemini is the sign most
concerned with the processing of information. Gemini is a mutable sign – the
quality of adaptation and flexibility and while Gemini can adapt to just about
every situation, they need nearly constant stimulation and do not respond well
to restrictions and pressure to make commitments.
The symbol for Gemini is that of “The Twins” giving us the first solid clue about the true nature of a Gemini. What is the nature of “Twins”? Well, they are both reflections of each other, but each has their own particular POV. This is the greatest gift and talent of a Ge mini. They can see multiple points of view. Oh, you think that’s not so great? Well, think about it.
People I encounter constantly ask me to explain the actions and opinions of others. It’s part of the job. But, why do they ask me this? They ask because they only see things from their own POV. We all try to empathize, or relate, or understand another’s POV, but in reality all we can do is see it from our own POV. But the Gemini twins can see, actually step into the shoes of someone else and see their actual POV. It’s an enormous gift. Most of us see things and relate to things from a single POV, but Gemini see and relate from multiple POVs.
This is probably why Geminis are so misunderstood, why they appear to be chaotic, and why they are so adaptable and restless. In short, they see too much, ask too many questions, seek all the answers to not only their questions, but the questions of others. They are the sponge of the Zodiac, taking in every piece of information and knowledge the world has to offer. A Gemini can appear to others to be too changeable, too fickle, and easily led from one POV to the next. They appear that way because that’s exactly who they are. I find that people just do not understand the POV of a Gemini, and Geminis do not understand why they see so many POV’s and others see only one or two.
Gemini is the only sign that can get succeed at doing two things at once. It is the sign of communications par excellence. No other sign can play with words like Gemini. To those with strong emphasis in Gemini, one set of words and ideas is as good as any other. In fact, a Gemini can entertain two conflicting thoughts at the same moment in time, but may find it difficult and frustrating to explain those thoughts to others. And, therein lies the challenge for all Geminis.
They see so many POV’s, but need to develop the ability to communicate those ideas, thoughts, observations, etc., to others. A Mature Gemini has learned to focus his or her thoughts into a coherent narrative that can then be communicated to others. This is the job of a Gemini—to see everything, and, develop mental disciplines in order to communicate what has been learned.
The Gemini energy interacts with the environment now. Investigating it, learning, knowing and exchanging ideas. The intellect dominates in Gemini, and all things intellectual are valued greatly.
Being the most versatile and changeable of the signs, Gemini energy is seldom what it seems to be. Chameleon like, Gemini energy will take a stand, voice an opinion, decide on an option then completely change their mind tomorrow.
Nothing is ever written in stone by Gemini. They are truly a free soul, driven by curiosity and a desire to know and do. They usually have several things going at once, and within such chaos, they thrive.
The Gemini seeks complete conceptual understanding of the things that capture his or her attention. While a Gemini can become bored quite easily, if a person, event, or topic becomes a passion or obsession a Gemini can be relentless in their pursuit of conceptual understanding. They will not stop until they understand it. Once understood, they will quickly move on to some other fanciful notion.
A mature Gemini will then be able to share knowledge, teach concepts, etc. An immature Gemini will try to talk to anyone who will listen, but usually lack the disciple to create a coherent narrative. Inability to communicate their POV will create frustration, and many times a Gemini will blame the listener for not getting it, when in reality, it is always the responsibility of the communicator to clearly and succinctly speak. A Gemini does not need to find someone who will understand, they need to communicate so that others can comprehend.
The color for Gemini is Green and consequently the precious stone is Emerald.
Gemini are well-suited for any occupation that requires good language and communication skills, such as acting, writing, journalism, teaching, interpreting, sales. They are happiest in jobs where they have a great deal of flexibility in the tasks that they perform and the hours that they work. They are good entrepreneurs, and adapt easily to a wide variety of situations.
Gemini rules the arms, shoulders, the lungs including bronchi, thymus, upper ribs, and hands. The processes of the body over which Gemini presides are the circulation and oxygenation of blood, disruption of the nerves. Gemini is susceptible to bronchitis, nervous diseases, pneumonia, fractures of shoulders and arms, anemia, asthma and allergies, as well as a general sense of restlessness and nervous tension. Physical activity will help to ground Gemini and keep the nervous system more balanced.
In conclusion, be kind to your Gemini friends. It’s not easy for them. While they are entertaining, endlessly witty, and a constant source of amusement, they can also feel like they do not fit in anywhere, and that no one understands them [or people understand them too much. I’ve never quite been sure which it is.]
[Full disclosure: I have a Gemini Ascendant, with Venus conjunct the Ascendant. I admit I take a more positive POV when writing about Geminis. I have a soft spot in my heart for them, even if they often have me pulling my hair out. LOL ]
