As the seasons change, so the Cardinal Sun signs are ushered in, and as Fall begins, Libra is the Sun Sign that rules. The Four Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, and each initiates a season. Aries for Spring, Cancer for Summer, Libra for Fall, and Capricorn for Winter.
Librans are born between September 23rd and October 22nd, and belong to the Air element of the zodiac (along with Gemini and Aquarius). Air signs are cool, calculating, cerebral, and charming. They possess a natural surface cleverness, and a swift humor that make them all fantastic company. Libra is the most charming of the group of air signs.
The ruler of Libra is Venus. Its glyph represents the balance of the scales. Its meaning is equilibrium and justice. Considered the sign of cosmic reciprocity, and of cooperation rather than competition. The basic Libran nature is diplomatic and charming. Libras have an idealistic, and generally peace loving nature. In general, they are easygoing and sociable.
Libras are best known for their love of balance. Balance here is interpreted as balance in life, and all things being equal balance is usually in the form of moderation and a certain middle-of-the-road attitude. Here the Libra strives for living a life that is cooperative with the most number of people. They cannot stand chaos, mess, or disorganization. They are idealistic perfectionists, and they invest most of their energy in keeping their environment and lives lovely, tidy, and orderly.
Libra is ruled by Venus, as previously stated, and Venus is a planet that holds sway over beauty, the arts, love, and pleasure. This makes them wonderful lovers, extremely aesthetic, and into beautiful things. They are certainly born with a taste for ALL of the finer things in life.
Libras are gifted with a strong sense of justice and fair play, and have fine analytical abilities. They are known to be objective and impartial in making judgment calls. They are more interested in making friends than enemies, are willing to go along to get along, and therefore will usually do whatever it takes to maintain a relationship. But, do not take their cooperation and passiveness as weakness. All that cooperation and compassion can evaporate in an instant if betrayed, or pushed beyond their limits.
Librans are sensitive to others, and understand the emotional needs of their associates. They are optimistic and cheerful people, and have an ability to charm and delight their friends and acquaintances. Very sociable, they abhor cruel or vicious actions, and shy away from vulgar and offensive behavior. They dislike scenes, and will often go out of their way to avoid conflict. They prefer to cooperate and compromise, and will give up, even when they feel they are in the right, rather than put up with the ordeal of an argument. Discord makes them totally insecure, and uncomfortable. They need and want harmony in their lives, and will do whatever it takes to have it. Librans are not loners, and do better in partnerships, both in their personal and their business life.
The more negative Libra character can be frivolous, flirty, and quite shallow. In romance they can be indulgent to the point of hedonistic. Libra can be impatient of routines, timid, and easygoing to a point of annoyance to more energetic people. Because they are slow to anger, Librans will shock everyone around them with their sudden outbursts of rage. They love the good life and tend to be extravagant. Librans are known to be indecisive, changeable, gullible, and easily affected. Their Cardinality makes them bossy, but with a poetic flare for the most part, but do not cross a Libra or you will soon find out what happens when someone angers a Cardinal sign—it’s full on war in many cases. Librans can be surprisingly energetic in the areas that move them, and indifferent to everything else. They are happiest when socializing, and at the top of their social strata. You will find many Librans in local organizations volunteering their time, services, and rising to a position of prominence. They dislike coarse, dirty work, and will usually get someone else to do it, if necessary. They make good diplomats. They are never guilty of an “On my mind, on my mouth” approach to things. They are careful thinkers and speakers unless they have been aroused to anger.
